Commonwealth Seniors Health Card

By December 3, 2020Financial Planning

Anyone who is over age pension age, but not currently eligible for Age Pension or DVA Pension, may still be eligible for the Commonwealth Seniors Health Card.

This card entitles the holder to cheaper medicines under the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme, but may also provide discounts for public transport, utilities bills and other health care costs.

The main test of eligibility relates to income.  If your “adjusted taxable income” is less than $55,808 for singles or $89,290 for couples, you can qualify.

This income is basically taxable income such as interest dividends, rent and salary, plus some other sources, in particular deemed superannuation pension income.

If you are not currently in receipt of this card and believe you could qualify, just contact our office and we can assist in assessing your eligibility.
